The end of strife

Twisted, horrid stillborn creatures
Rotting on the forest floor
The bear goes hungry through the winter
and dies before the thaw of spring

The skulls of the children of birds
never hatched, litter the dens of thieves
corrupted into creatures unworthy of sight
killed by their desperate kin clawing out their eyes

Trees rot from a hidden blight
bored through their ancient rings;
insectoid allegories to our own wretched kind
